Y Bala brings together two interconnected practices that explore performance and sound as ways to activate the ambient histories embedded within place. The work draws on Welsh folklore and the material language of narrative objects, connecting these with cinematic motifs drawn from the Folk Horror tradition. Through a sensory engagement with landscape where the body becomes a primal instrument of investigation, the exhibition considers how sound and movement shape our encounter with the environment. Y Bala evokes the auditory and emotional presence of place, myth, memory, and atmosphere into a shared experience of transformation.
